Maruti Suzuki introduces Alto 800 Anniversary Edition

Just after launching the Alto K10 MusiK edition last week, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has come up with a Alto 800 “Anniversary Edition” to celebrate the 1 year completion of the Alto 800 in the Indian market. As is the case with the K10, this edition is nothing but addition of some features and cosmetic enhancements to the normal Alto 800.

This Anniversary edition includes 10 additions to the normal Alto 800 ,which are as follows:

1. New body color (Purple Haze)

2. New body graphics

3. New seat upholstery

4. Blackened B-Pillar

5. New door trims

6. Body side mouldings

7. Rear parcel tray

8. Body Colored ORVM

9. Music system (Optional)

The Maruti Suzuki had clocked a record sales figure of 1 lakh units in just 124 days after its launch. Last month in September, Alto sales collectively were 23000+ which include the K10 and Alto 800. The Alto 800 is powered by a three cylinder 80occ  engine which  has a fuel efficiency figure of 22.7 kmpl. The Alto 800 has some increased dimensions from the normal Alto and Maruti Suzuki states it has “Wavefront Design”.

With the upcoming new – gen A-Star which will be coming next year with a diesel engine, chances are that the same engine will be plonked in the Alto 800. A diesel Alto will be a hit considering the popularity of the Alto and India’s obsession with the oil burners.

Although these sticker jobs and cosmetic enhancements under the guise of special editions don’t help Maruti Suzuki much, they do the job of differentiating people (those who buy these special editions) from the normal lot.

Although there is no info on the pricing, we can safely expect a minor price increase.
