Maruti Suzuki Ertiga might become costlier from July

Only yesterday, we reported that Maruti has bagged as many as 32000 bookings for the Ertiga MPV in the first month of its launch. It is being said that the response that Ertiga has got is almost as good as that the Swift Dzire sedan had gained. We also reported, the diesel variant of the Ertiga has become so popular that it now commands a waiting period of as much as 6 months at most places. As was expected, Maruti is exploring the possibilities of a hike in the prices of the new MPV.

Yes, we are certainly looking at increasing the price and we will be reviewing it in a few months” Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive Officer (Sales & Marketing) Maruti said.

The new prices might come into effect as early as in July and we feel that the price hike will be in tune of INR 10-18k.

The price difference between base and middle level variants of Diesel engined and gasoline engined Ertiga is due to the fact that ABS is standard on LDI and VDI but comes as an option VXI and is absent on LXI. Plus, Maruti might want to price the petrol variants more aggressively owing to the fast dipping sales of petrol engined cars.
