Maruti Suzuki Compact Crossover Showcased at IIMS

Ertiga mini MPV has proved to be one of the most successful models from Maruti Suzuki in recent times. The new car is almost flying out of showrooms and we keep hearing of waiting periods of as long as 10 months at few places! The Ertiga has seen a similar success story at Indonesia and the car maker’s production facility is struggling to keep up with the demand at both the emerging markets.

Now, in response to the fast growing compact crossover market, Suzuki has come up with the Ertiga Crossover Concept at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS).  There is a possibility that the car maker might soon launch this body kit that gives the Ertiga MPV a crossover styling. The kit includes a new honeycomb grille, LED day time running lamps, roof runners, a revised front bumper with larger air dam, black side skirts & front lip and a double-top exhaust.

It is being said that the body kit would be made available in India sometime after its launch in Indonesia. The Crossover body kit might be a dealer fitment and can be snapped on to all variants of Ertiga MPV.

As we have reported earlier, the Indonesian market will also be soon getting an automatic transmission for the petrol variants of Ertiga. Again, there are fair chances of the auto variant making it to our car market.

A Crossover body kit and an automatic transmission can very well change minds of the potential car buyers who have stayed away from Ertiga due to its ‘cab’ image.
