You read it first on Motoroids! The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Celerio, which is slated to make its global debut at Auto Expo 2014, has scored 4 stars (for adult occupant) in Latin NCAP crash test. The test car sported 2 front airbags.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio launch will happen soon after its Auto Expo 2014 debut and the upcoming hatchback will find itself positioned between the Alto K10 and the Ritz in Maruti Suzuki’s product portfolio. CLICK HERE to read about all the 40 odd cars that are headed our way in 2014.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio’s claim to fame will be its Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), which will be marked as ‘EZ Drive’. AMT completely does away with the need of depressing the clutch when shifting gears. Automated Manual Transmissions not just make driving a breeze in traffic conditions but also bestow the car with higher fuel efficiency than manual gearboxes!
Powering the Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be the same 1 litre, 3 pot, K10 petrol engine that powers the AStar and the WagonR. For the AStar, this motor churns out a max power of 67PS and has a claimed fuel economy of 21 kmpl. For the upcoming Celerio though, the ECU is expected to receive a re-map in favor of better fuel economy and slightly more power.
The new Celerio will be a replacement for the current gen Alto in most international markets. For the Indian market though, the upcoming model will replace the AStar and the now defunct Estilo.
