Following the introduction of dual airbags and ABS as an option in all variants of Swift and Swift DZire, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has devised the same offer for their B-Segment hatchback, the Celerio. The Celerio will now roll out with dual airbags and ABS as an option across all variants.
Launched in 2014, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio was the first car in India to be equipped with the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology, or a robotised manual transmission. The Celerio also happens to be the first car from Maruti Suzuki to get their home made, two-cylinder, compact diesel engine and the only hatch in its segment to come in three fuel options (Petrol, Diesel and CNG) and a choice of 2 gearboxes.
Mr. R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said that they have always tried to offer the best to their customers with the Celerio. Therefore by offering safety features like dual airbags and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) from the base variant onwards much ahead of regulations, they are making the deal more attractive for customers.
The Celerio is powered by either a 1.0-litre petrol or a 0.8-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine generates a power of 67bhp at 6000rpm and a max torque of 90Nm at 3500 rpm, whereas the 793cc diesel power-plant spouts out peak power of 46bhp at 3500 rpm and a max torque of 125Nm at 2000 rpm. Both the engines are mated with a 5-speed transmission gearbox or the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) tech.
