Ever since the Celerio has been launched in the Indian market by Maruti Suzuki, the car has been commanding a huge waiting period. Currently, the waiting period has gone upto 8 months. We have been reporting about the diesel engined Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel which has been spied near the company’s plant in North India. Now, according to reports, it has emerged that the Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel will be priced at around INR 4.6 lakh.

Powering the Celerio diesel will be a new 2 pot 800cc diesel motor which will churn out around 45-50 bhp of max power and 120-130 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be developed in partnership with Suzuki, Japan. The 2 pot motor will be frugal and will deliver a claimed fuel efficiency of around 30 kmpl, which will translate into 24-25 kmpl in actual driving conditions. Although the 2 pot motor will deliver good fuel economy, it will be prone to high NVH levels. Maruti will have to put extra efforts to reduce the NVH levels for the Celerio diesel.
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel motor will be available in four trim levels- LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi(O). Unlike the petrol version which is the first car in India to come with Automated Manual Transmission, the diesel variant will be offered only with the manual transmission. In terms of features and interiors, the Celerio diesel will remain identical to the petrol version except for minor tweaks to the suspension in order to compensate for the extra weight of the diesel mill. When launched, the Celerio diesel will lock horns with the Hyundai Grand i10 diesel and the Chevrolet Beat diesel.
