March 2015: Tata Motors sales rise by 3%, year-on-year

Tata Motors has recorded a 3% increase in sales of their vehicles for March 2015. The carmaker reportedly sold 52,479 units last month, compared to 51,184 units the same time the previous year. Tata Motors benefited from positive sales of its passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles in our domestic market, too. The company sold 47,044 units in march, as compared to 45,996 units last year, a rise in sales of 2% year-on-year.

Tata’s domestic commercial vehicles’ sales didn’t fare too well this time.

Tata Motors’ domestic sales of its commercial vehicles actually went down to 32,005 units last month, a dip in sales of 4% year-on-year. Sales from exports stood at 5435 units, compared to 5188 units sold during the same period last year. That is a 5% increase in export numbers.

Tata claims there’s been strong demand for the Zest compact saloon and Bolt hatchback.

The company’s domestic sales of its passenger vehicles saw a rise of 19%, with 15,039 units sold last month, compared to 12,640 units YOY. The carmaker’s overall sales figures for the 2014-15 fiscal (domestic and export market), were down by 11% compared to the previous year, same month. Tata Motors sold 5,02,281 units this fiscal, as compared to the previous fiscal’s 5,66,695 units.
