Mahindra Scorpio loses black cladding on the tailgate, goes for a less cluttered look

Mahindra Scorpio tailgate (1)

Mahindra has finally thought it is wise to remove the elaborate and jaunty black plastic cladding from the tailgate of the Scorpio. The so called applique, is now much smaller and is body-coloured. The earlier all-black plastic cladding wasn’t much to the liking of most of us, even hardcore fans of the SUV found it a bit too much and apparently, requested the carmaker to do something about it. Mahindra have also gone about changing the silver number plate area, so now it is all black and thus looks kosher. Also, this particular design alteration applies to all the models of the Scorpio, not just the top-end variants.

This rear looked too fussy and wasn’t to the best of our liking.

Apart from the changes to the tailgate, this revised Scorpio remains unaltered as a whole. The Mahindra Scorpio was launched in September of last year and has since racked up good sales for the carmaker. Mahindra manages to shift just less than 5000 Scorpios per month, a number which shall only rise once the SUV gains an automatic transmission. Anyway, did you like the new look or do you prefer the old and bold fascia? Let us know in the comments section and click here to read our full review on the Mahindra Scorpio.

  1. Personally I’d always tough the earlier blackened tailgate to b a bit over the top. I find the new design much more pleasing to the eye. Thanks #Mahindra for taking note of the buyer remarks. I hope #Bajaj does the same and alters the RS200 to make it seem a bit less busy design.

Just as expected. At the launch only, I had said the black clad wont go with most other colours. Now it’s optional existence just proves. Anyways, good to know.
