India’s most loved car maker and undisputed leader of small cars, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, is in process of launching the much discussed Wagon R Stingray variant in the ultra competitive small car market of our country. We are reporting LIVE from the event and here are all that you would want to know about the new car.

The Maruti Wagon R Stingray sports a completely revised front end that comprises of a sleeker grille, a set of new headlamps with ‘first in class’ projector setups, a slightly revised bonnet and a new bumper whose air dam reminds us of the one on the Alto 800. Other than all this, the car also gets a new set of alloy wheels and a slightly revised rear end with sprinkling of chrome around the tail lamps.

On the inside, the Stingray gets all-black treatment and the dashboard sports piano-black inserts at few places. The car also gets additional features in the form of steering mounted audio controls, updated ICE, et al.

Powering the India-spec Maruti Wagon R Stingray is the same 1.0-liter, 3 cylinder, K Series petrol engine that powers the regular Wagon R, the A-Star, the Alto K10 and the Estilo. The engine has a max power of 68PS and a peak torque of 90Nm. While we would have liked the Stingray to boast of a more powerful motor and some ‘go-faster bits’, most small car buyers in this segment would be happey with the performance from the tried and test K10 motor.

We reckon that the Wagon R Stingray could appeal more to the youngsters, who have so far refrained from putting their money on the Wagon R (of course, due to its boxy styling and uninspiring looks).

Stay tuned to Motoroids for prices and additional details.
