List : Five of the most eye-catching, wrapped super-cars in India

Super-car owners around the world can afford to be finicky, especially about the way their exotic machines look. In the ego centric realm of trumpeting your million dollar ride, things have to be distinctive. That’s were wrapping comes in.

For starters, wrapping saves the headache of getting a car completely re-painted, and offers an unlimited variety of color shades or finishes. Moreover, it also protects the underlying, original paintjob. When boredom sets in, one just needs to peel off the wrap and get a new one. Well, the only downside is that wraps can never match the depth and luster of a well finished, factory paint.

Car wrapping has become one of India’s favourite after-market automotive practices, and has trickled down from glorifying high-end, exotic machinery to hotting up everyday cars. But it’s the former that we’re more interested in, and the list below showcases India’s most eye-catching, wrapped super-cars.

Chrome wrapped Lamborghini Gallardo SE

2015 Parx Super Car Show - Lamborghini Gallrdo SE chrome wrapped

Unless you’re rolling down the street in a gold plated, Victorian era chariot pulled by a pair of live and feisty T-Rex dinosaurs, this chrome wrapped Lamborghini is bound to win more stares. In Pune, it must cause a fair amount of stir as it negotiates the two-wheeler stricken streets. The ostentatious, full chrome wrap is donned by a limited edition Gallardo SE, belonging to the expensive Poonawalla garage. However, we hear that the wrap has been taken down recently, revealing the car’s original yellow paintwork.

Matte black wrap with red accents on a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

Mumbai hosts this devilish Aventador, which gets a sinister matte black wrap, highlighted with red accents around the headlamps, bumpers, and sides. A pair of offset, red stripes also run across the extraterrestrial design. This particular raging bull hides a Bianco Canopus paintjob underneath, which translates to white in Lamborghini speak, and boring in super-car speak. If Batman moved to Mumbai for some bizarre reason, the owner, who also happens to be a part of the Poonawalla family as well, would be more than happy to lend his ride to the superhero till the Tumbler arrives.

Gold wrapped Jaguar XKR-S

2015 Parx Super Car Show (103)

A Jaguar XKR-S by itself is a pretty hardcore machine. With 550 PS from its super-charged V8 engine, the Jag takes reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.4 seconds. Over the standard XKR, the S adds a pretty snarly body kit on the outside, along with a huge rear spoiler. Add a gold wrap with black highlights to the mix, like this particular example from Mumbai flaunts, and things become rather bratty. Apparently, this car, hiding a luscious shade of maroon underneath, was initially owned by celebrity Shahid Kapoor.

TRON wrapped Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Bicolore

TRON wrapping is the new trend. Taking inspiration from the famous, hub less wheeled motorcycle used in the TRON: Legacy movie, TRON wrapping involves a base wrap in the color of your choice, highlighted with thin, reflective strips that glow in the dark! A Lamborghini Gallardo Bicolore owner from New Delhi, desiring a more distinctive appearance for his Italian ride, decided to give it the TRON treatment. And the results are rather eye-catching. The base color of the warp used here is satin blue, while the orange highlights accentuating the fabled Luc Donckerwolke penned design glow in the dark. Definitely a nocturnal creature, the car has been wrapped by 3M Car Care.

Gloss yellow wrapped Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

DMC Lamborghini Aventador in India (3)

Yet another Lamborghini, and the second Aventador to grace this list is this gloss yellow wrapped bull from Bengaluru. Not surprisingly, this particular example also started life with a Bianco Canopus (white) paintjob, which is tastefully hidden under this gloss yellow wrap, sourced from Dubai based WrapStyle.  This is also the only Aventdaor in India, which benefits from a sprinkling of some very expensive DMC after-market parts, notably that huge, carbon fiber spoiler, and a freakishly loud, flame spitting exhaust system.
