The sixth edition of the Lavasa Women’s Drive will take place at Lavasa tomorrow. The drive event which sees hundreds of women participate in a rally with great is the biggest all women’s car rally in the country (certified by Limca Book of Records). In its 2014 edition, the event is now aiming at Guinness book of World records. In concept and thought, Lavasa Women’s Drive 2014, according to the organizers, symbolizes today’s Indian woman- vivacious, energetic, confident, independent and most of all, with an affinity for social cause.
This year, besides the activities near the Lavasa lakeside promenade with dance and music the highlight this year would be some surprise celebrity performances. Cars will be flagged off from Mumbai as well as Pune. This drive is aimed at creating awareness about cancers that affect women.
The rally will be held simultaneously from Mumbai and Pune on Saturday, February 22, 2014 where hundreds of cars driven and navigated by women participants will reach Lavasa. This will be followed by a grand awards ceremony in presence of a number of celebrities in March 2014.
Lavasa Women’s Drive has THRICE been acknowledged in the Limca Book of Records as the largest All Women’s Car Rally in India, has seen more than 7000 women drivers participating in the annual event, which till now has generated 32 lakh votes world-wide. The organizers claim that the drive has mobilized more than Rs 40 lakhs towards the cause of cancer prevention through early detection.
Numerous celebrities and motoring enthusiastic drive from Mumbai to Lavasa. Notable names include Roopa Ganguly, RJ Tarana, Nauheed Cyrusi, and Gul Panag.
More than 50 celebrities from all walks of life have lent their support to this cause.
