[Launched] Maruti Celerio CNG price announced!

maruti celerio cng price in india

Only four days ago, we reported that the Maruti Celerio CNG could be in the offing and now, it has emerged that Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), the nation’s largest selling car maker, has quietly launched the Maruti Celerio CNG in India. The latest variant of the Celerio is available only in VXi trim. The Maruti Celerio CNG price has been pegged at INR 4.92 lakhs. Powering the Celerio CNG  variant is the same 1.0 litre KNext three pot engine that powers the petrol variants. This engine has a max power of 68PS in petrol mode. In CNG variant, it suffers a power loss of 10PS. For the CNG variant, the motor comes mated to a five speed manual gearbox and Maruti isn’t offering an AMT currently. Christened as the Maruti Celerio Green, the new Celerio CNG variant boasts of Maruti’s i-GPI system that has been seen on the Wagon R and Ertiga. Maruti Celerio Green has a claimed fuel economy of 31.79 km/kg.

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio was launched at the Auto Expo 2014 in February this year. The Celerio managed to clock almost 1000 bookings per month. While the car maker had earlier anticipated a 25-30% response for the AMT variant, it has emerged that demand for the AMT variant is as high as that for the manual variant, thereby leading demand overshooting supply by a considerable margin. It is being said that the local assembly of AMT unit will commence next year. This should help bring down the waiting period for the AMT variant. Once this happens, we expect Maruti Suzuki India to come up with an AMT variant for the newly launched CNG variant as well.

Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the new Maruti Celerio Green.
