If reports by an Indian daily are anything to go by, Hyundai it seems, will be launching an all-new vehicle in a couple of years. It is to be based on the Hexa Space Concept which was showcased at the Auto Expo in 2012 and as the Hexa Space image suggests, will be an MPV. Codenamed ‘IP’, this new MPV from the Koreans will be playing a vital role in the Indian MPV market, which is now being dominated by the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Honda Mobilio and the fresh entrant in the segment – the Renault Lodgy. The Renault Lodgy goes on sale starting today.

Hyundai’s new people-carrier could be ready by 2017.

The upcoming Hyundai MPV would be available with the customary petrol and diesel powerplants, transmissions on offer would surely include a manual (maybe a 6-speed affair) and an autobox could be a possibility. With all of its competition already neck deep into the MPV segment, Hyundai will have their work cut out for them when their proposed ‘IP’ MPV does become a reality. However, we expect it to get the usual feature-stuffed cabin (as with most Hyundai cars) and will probably be priced competitively. All of this is to be seen and in the meanwhile, Hyundai is busy with its new ix25 compact SUV which is to be launched this year.
