It’s not a secret that something sinister is brewing over at Sant’Agata. It’s Lamborghini’s new hyper-car, which will grace the floors at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September. New rumour on the block is that it’ll called the Centenario LP 770-4. NO, it isn’t some mythical bull, but it celebrates a certain centenary; that of company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, who would be turning 100 in 2016. It’ll cost the thick end of INR 10 Crore; or about $1.5 Million, considerably less than the ostentatious, less powerful, $3 Million Veneno (above).

The 6.5 litre, Aventador sourced V12 engine is said to be even more powerful in its latest avatar, delivering 770 horsepower (30 more than the Veneno), which, coupled with 4-wheel drive, will accelerate the “Centenario” from rest to 100 km / h in just 2.7 seconds, and go beyond 350 km / h if shown an airstrip; all of which, although unconfirmed and impressive, fall short to keep up with the high rollers of the hyper-car realm.

The report also suggests that the styling on the hyper-car won’t be as extreme as the Veneno; but will be more subtle and aerdynamically honed.  However, other sources have cited that the new bull could also adapt a hybrid system, which will give it more muscle and pizazz to fight the undisputed trio of the hyper-car world – LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1. An extremely limited run of 20 coupes and 10 roadsters are expected, while prospective clients have already been given a private preview.
