If you are amongst the people who were desperately waiting for KTM’s affordable adventure bike, the 390 Adventure, just like us, then you are in for a disappointment. In a dialogue with automotive website ADV Pulse, the Press and PR Coordinator for the Austrian manufacturer has said that the Duke 390 platform is suitable only for naked and sports bikes and cannot be used for an Adventure based model. KTM Press & PR Coordinator has declared that no adventure bike based on the current 390 platform will arrive from the company.

The company told ADV Pulse, “From a strategical point of view KTM always considers new developments and for this reason: never say no. But currently such models are not foreseen. From a technical perspective other versions would require a complete different package. The existing layout can [be] used for Naked and Supersport models.”
Hopes for the 390 Adventure were raised after KTM’s CEO Stefan Pierer said that the company is planning to introduce a dual-sport model based on the 390 Duke platform. This led to a lot of speculation and the internet witnessed a number of renderings of the 390 Adventure.
We hope KTM plans and introduces a new Adventure based model in the affordable price range. The excitement generated over social networking platforms should give KTM a hint of demand for such affordable Adventure based model.
