KTM 1290 SuperDuke R launch on October 1

“Something big is coming” says 1290superduker.com- a website dedicated towards the launch of the KTM 1290 SuperDuke R. With a countdown ticker in place indicating just over11 days, the KTM 1290 SuperDuke would witness its unveiling ceremony on October 1st 2013. KTM has also put up a teaser video majorly showing a rider doing hot laps on a race track.

Showcased as a concept last year at EICMA 2012, the 1290 SuperDuke based on the KTM RC8 would be powered by a liquid cooled 1300cc V-twin engine and one could expect the new Orange Monster to pump anywhere between 180 to 200 bhp. Other features include ride-by-wire, Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and traction control. Mounted on a molybdenum steel tubular frame, the new KTM 1290 Duke R would be sporting Brembo braking systems while riding on light alloy wheels.

During EICMA 2012, KTM stated “…..in 2005, the first pure street twin with the name Super Duke rolls out of the KTM halls and changes the world of motorcycles. Now those words do seem like a shot of adrenaline and one can expect the new KTM 1290 SuperDuke to be a crazy revving madmax with the power to shred the tarmac with a mild twist of the wrist.
