Well, we had a tap on the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT since the day we published our first report on the new sports touring machine from Austria. Heavily clad with camouflage the last time it was spy spotted doing its test runs last year, this time the pictures have been officially revealed by the manufacturer itself. So here are all the details of the new KTM 1290 Super Duke GT.
Based on the Mattighofen Maniac’s motor- we mean the snappy KTM 1290 Super Duke R, the new GT has been parented at relatively being a more humble performer. The 1301 cc V-Twin motor has been treated with new cylinder heads with amendments to the combustion and ignition maps with three modes (Street, Rain and Sport) towards a more user friendly touring experience.
Further set of electronic aids include Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC), cruise control and combined ABS with four modes. Street, Rain, Sport and Supermoto (surprise!). A 4-way WP semi-active adjustable suspension is being offered with an anti-dive feature. Other features such as heated grips and quick-shifters also make way on the new KTM 1290 Super Duke GT.
Other touring titbits include a larger fuel tank, an 8 position windscreen, redesigned sub-frame and saddle to sustain longer jaunts on the Super Duke GT. Though lot many details are kept under wraps- which most probably would be made official at EICMA 2015 next month- expect the details to pour out much earlier.
On the concluding part- the panels are still camo’d, but that’s not really a point of interest- to us at least. We’re more interested in the numbers which we hope to bring to our readers as they leak out. Keep a watch people!
