IRCTC and Indian Railways launched the Tiger Trail Circuit Semi Luxury Tourist Train; prices start from INR 38,500

Indian Railways and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) have together brought a new rail tour package for the masses. Named as the Tiger Express by Semi Luxury Tourist Train, the first ever journey of this train was flagged off from 5 June 2016 that also happens to be World Environment Day. The package offers tourists a ride by Rajdhani-type train and AC road transportation through regions with tiger trails.

The 5nights & 6days journey commences from Delhi’s Safdarjung railway station and enter the state of Madhya Pradesh covering regions of Bandhavgarh, Kanha and ultimately reaches Jabalpur. After the Jabalpur program the train returns to Safdarjung railway station.

For wildlife lovers, this Tiger Trail Circuit Semi Luxury Tourist Train has a lot to offer. Apart from taking tourists through tiger safari, the package includes accommodation in standard rooms of 3-star hotels or equivalent hotels for 3 nights. Tourists can book tickets in the 1-AC and 2-AC class of this train. Judging by the photographs by IRCTC, the coaches don’t seem to be a world apart, but are the standard AC first class and AC two tier coaches available in passenger trains. The train also seem to have a separate restaurant type area.

At the moment, the official website to book the package shows information of the 5 June 2016 journey and no further journey dates are mentioned.
