Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki has unveiled the 2017 Ninja 650 at the ongoing 2016 INTERMOT show. The new model comes with a slew of visual and mechanical updates. One of the prime changes on the new Ninja 650 is the fact that the model is 19 kg lighter as compared to its predecessor.

The reduction in weight is courtesy of the new Trellis frame that comes with asymmetrical aluminium frame. With the engine now being compliant to Euro 4 norms, the 2017 Ninja 650, the model loses out to 3 hp of power on one hand while the fuel economy is claimed to have increased by about 8%. Braking hardware now features Nissin calipers along with Bosch’s 9.1 ABS module.

Aesthetically, the new Ninja 650 has now been turned into a more aggressive looking motorcycle, with the credits going to ZX-10R inspired twin headlamps. The model also receives a split seat and a new windscreen that can be adjusted by up to 60 mm between the lowest and the highest settings based on three fixed positions. The saddle height of the 649cc powered parallel twin engine has now been reduced to 790 mm while the underbelly exhaust is one noticeable feature that has been carried forward from the outgoing model.
