India Spec Ford EcoSport to Feature DRLs

Ford Ecosport India Launch date

The Ford EcoSport is taking its own sweet time to enter the fast growing Indian car market. The Ford EcoSport has been spotted testing in India on numerous occasions and it is being said that the car will be launched in March. Here we have a video of a Ford EcoSport test mule doing rounds in Chennai. The video reveals that the India spec Ford EcoSport might come equipped with Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs), a feature that has found a lot of favour in the Indian car market and has become a ‘must have’ for many car lovers.

Ford Ecosport Design

• Aerodynamics, yet capable stance, a commanding driving position and a rear-mounted spare tyre

• Ford’s new global design language gives the all-new EcoSport a proud, high-mounted grille and a unique silhouette shaped for fuel efficiency

• The robust design and confident stance of EcoSport complements an outgoing spirit to create unique appeal

Talking about the stance, the Ford Ecosport has a ground clearance of 200mm.To put things into perspective, the very rugged Tata Xenon XT has exactly same ground clearance figure. The car has approach and departure angle of 25 degree and 35 degree respectively. The car seems to be high on water wading ability with the maximum water wading limit of 550 mm.

On the inside, the car will have quality materials and lot of bits from Ford parts bin. On safety front, the car gets four airbags- two on front and two on side. Other than this, the car is also equipped with Hill Launch Assist, Traction control, ABS and EBD.Adding to user convenience will be Push button start, cooled glove box and keyless entry.

The 1.0-liter Ecoboost engine

Despite its small capacity and proportions, the engine delivers power and performance that will rival a traditional 1.6-litre petrol engine while emitting less than 140g/km CO2. It will have 120 PS of power, giving the Ford EcoSport a footprint that is small enough for urban driving yet robust enough for a trip out of the city. The 1.0 litre EcoBoost engines feature turbocharging, direct injection and other technologies and is potent enough to threaten the existence of larger engines with no loss of performance and with lower fuel consumption. Mated to the EcoBoost engine will be a 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission that will make the EcoSport the first crossover under INR 15 lakhs to offer a 6 speed DCT.
