Images: All-new, upcoming Mahindra MPV (Innova Crysta rival) spied again

Following last week’s spy images, Mahindra’s upcoming MPV has been spied testing again, this time by Motor Vikatan. Code-named the U321, the new people mover from Mahindra will go head to head against the Toyota Innova Crysta, the reigning champ in its segment, and the upcoming Tata Hexa. U321 is rumoured to be called the TUV500 upon launch, and it will be the ageing Xylo’s replacement.

Reported to have been developed at the Mahindra North America Technical Center in Troy, US, the MPV is expected to be conservatively styled, while being detailed with Mahindra’s signature styling cues like the toothy grille, up-swept headlamp clusters, tall tail lamps and subtle chrome trimming all around. The interiors will all-new as well, and provide more space than the XUV500. Expect a host of comfort and convenience features, along with the capacity to seat seven occupants.

Power for the XUV500 based MPV could come from the 2.2-litre diesel m-Hawk diesel engine rated at 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque, while th 1.99-litre m-Hawk diesel engine good for 140 bhp and 320 Nm could be also employed alongside for the NCR and Kerala regions. Both front and all-wheel drive systems are expected, with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions channeling power. The Mahindra MPV should be launched sometime in early-2017.
