Hyundai Sonata gets a facelift for the 2014 Model Year version in the US

The new gen Sonata with all-new everything in well on its way. But before that happens, Hyundai isn’t sitting on its laurels and letting the leading D-segmenter to have any wrinkles on its face. For the North American market, the Sonata gets some nip and tuck to make sure that the Honda Accord doesn’t get to catch a breath.

According to the official statement of Hyundai, even this minor facelift features as many as 50 redesigned sub-systems, including both visible and hidden parts.

Visually, the front grille gets some alteration made to it. Headlights now get HID Xenons as an option. The 17 and 18 inch alloy wheels get a new design and the rear end gets some changes too in the form of a restyled bumper and new LED tail-lamps.

On the inside, the face lifted 2014 Hyundai Sonata features a new full-leather steering wheel for the top of the line SE and Limited variants. The instrument cluster has also been altered. The satellite navigation system is more advanced and features an 8-inch screen. In addition HD Radio, rearview camera, carbon fiber trim and ventilated driver seat are also available on higher trim levels. Changes have been made under the skin for better NVH dampening too.

The 2014 Sonata will feature additional tech too, in the form of Driver Selectable Steering Mode (DSSM), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
