Hyundai Motors India Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Korean auto giant, has finally unveiled the new Grand i10. It may be noted that the new Grand i10 has been spotted testing on Indian roads on at least a dozen occasions and there also were plenty of speculations regarding various aspects of the new car. While almost everyone thought that the new hatchback would be christened as the i15, it turns out that the car will be known as the Grand i10 in our market.

Here we have all the details and official images of the car.

As can be seen in these pics, the Grand i10 benefits from the carmaker’s Fluidic design language and looks as contemporary as any modern day Hyundai. While there is no denying that the car’s exteriors borrow not even a single design cue from the last gen i10, it would be safe to term the design as evolutionary. The rear of the new car looks distinctively European and we think that it is the best we have seen on any Hyundai hatchback so far.

Unfortunately, Hyundai hasn’t yet published the images of the car’s interiors but we guess the interiors would as well groomed as the exteriors.

The Grand i10 will go on sale in both petrol and diesel engine variants. Powering the petrol variants will be same 1.2-liter Kappa2 engine that powers the i10 and the i20. The diesel engine variant gets a new 1.1-liter three cylinder diesel engine that has been derived from the i20’s 1.4-liter CRDi motor.

As was being expected, the new Hyundai Grand i10 will find itself slotted between the i10 and i20 when it is launched in our car market. Hyundai Grand i10 would be seen rivalling the  Maruti Ritz, the Ford Figo and the Nissan Micra in India.

Though Hyundai has so far refrained from publishing the spec sheets of the new car, we reckon that the diesel engine would have at least 70 PS of max power.
