Hyundai Motors India Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of the Korean auto giant, is exactly a couple of hours away from officially launching the Hyundai Grand i10 in Indian car market. The launch ceremony will take place at New Delhi and Hyundai India’s invite reads “Join Us As We Begin a New Language”. With the launch, the Grand i10 will becomes the fifth hatchback in Hyundai India’s product portfolio.

Basically, the new Grand i10 is a re-skinned 2014 Hyundai i10, which has been developed especially keeping the Indian market in mind. In our country, the Grand i10 won’t replace the i10 and would rather sell alongside the i10 and the i20, positioned somewhere between them to be precise.

The Hyundai Grand i10 will come with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant would be powered by the same 1.2-liter Kappa2 engine that powers the i10 and the i20. The diesel engine variant will get a new 1.1-liter three cylinder diesel engine that has a max power figure of 71 PS. This motor is said to have been derived from that of the i20′s 1.4-liter CRDi engine.

Visually, the new Grand i10 benefits from the Hyundai’s Fluidic design language and looks as urbane as any other modern day Hyundai. The car’s exteriors borrow not even a single design cue from the last gen i10 but the design does manage to look evolutionary. The interiors too are as contemporary as the exteriors and exude style and premium-ness.

The Hyundai Grand i10, just like the current i10, will go on sale in as many as 5 variants- Era, Magna, Sports, Asta and Asta (O).

The Asta (O) is likely to come with several class leading features such as a 2 Din integrated Audio system with 1 GB of internal memory, Steering mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, a cooled glove box, Rear AC vents, Push button start, Smart Key and Electronically Adjustable and foldable OVRMs. Other premium features include Driver Side Auto Down power window, Rear parking sensors and 14 inch alloy wheels.

Hyundai India seems to be having a winner in its hands, just hope it prices the car right.
