Hyundai India is creating a lot of buzz with its Eon small car, and we’re yearning to get our hands behind its wheels for a road test review. With its contemporary design and a terrific speculated price, the new baby is going to create a lot of trouble for the Maruti Suzuki Alto. Hyundai have now put up the teaser site for the car. Dealers are already taking bookings for the car and refusing to quote a price, as they don’t have it apparently. You can book and Eon for Rs 20,000 and you’ll be returned the money if you are not convinced with the price to be unveiled on 13th October.
The Eon will be presented in 4 variants. D-Lite, Era, Magna and Sportz, with D-lite being the base variant and Sportz being the top end model, just like Eon’s i10 counterpart. The base variant will come with only an AC and no amenities. Era variant will get power steering and front power windows over D-Lite. Magna will get power windows on all doors and central locking. The Sportz version will be a fully equipped car with dual front airbags and ABS. Expect the prices to range from Slightly below 3 lakh rupees to 3.5 lakh rupees.
Propelling the Eon will be an all new 814cc three cylinder gasoline engine dishing out 55bhp of peak power and 76 Nm of torque. The Eon is expected to deliver an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 21.1kmpl, which is slightly more than the Alto’s 20.2 kmpl. The car will ride on 13 inch wheels and will be shod with 155/70 tyres.
