The Fiat Punto EVO takes the cake for the most powerful engine with 90bhp while the Hyundai Elite i20 and Volkswagen Polo share the second spot with 89bhp each. However, the Volkswagen Polo has got more pulling power with 230Nm of torque. Maruti’s Swift is the least powered car with 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque.

But, Maruti Swift, as expected, emerges as the most fuel efficient of the lot with an ARAI certified fuel economy of 22.9 kmpl. Hyundai Elite i20 is the only car to have an extra gear which will provide better highway cruising capabilities. Price-wise, the Maruti Swift’s highest variant is the cheapest among the lot.
But what about Petrol? Although the prices of petrol are skyrocketing, low car prices woo more audience towards the petrol power cars. Here is a chart that explains the Petrol engine specifications of these four hatchbacks:

The Fiat Punto Evo’s 1.4-litre engine scores top points in terms of engine power with 89bhp while the Maruti Swift finishes on second spot with 84bhp. Hyundai’s Elite i20 grabbed the third spot with 83bhp while Volkswagen Polo finished last with 74bhp. The Hyundai Elite i20 and Fiat’s Punto Evo ace the torque race at 115Nm with Maruti Swift standing on second with 114Nm. The winner in terms of torque in diesel race comes last with 110Nm.
The race for fuel efficiency resulted in a tie between the Hyundai Elite i20 and the Maruti Swift at 18.6 kmpl. Volkswagen Polo came in second with fuel efficiency number of 16.47 kmpl while the Punto Evo is the least efficient among the four at 14.4 kmpl. Once again, Swift grabbed extra points for affordability.

You have made the mistake again. There is no 1248cc Petrol engine from Fiat for Indian market. I believe it should be 1368CC.

Your tabular column for Petrol shows something wrong. Punto Petrol 1.4 generates 89bhp @6000rpm. You have mentioned the displacement wrong as 1172.
