Honda overtakes Bajaj for second spot in Indian bikes sales. Hero continues to enjoy numero uno status

If you thought that Hero MotoCorp will cease being the market leader in Indian two wheelers market, then, you are definitely in for a surprise. Hero MotoCorp continues to enjoy the numero uno. However, supports of Honda motors should not be too disappointed as the Jap bike maker managed to out sell Indian bike manufacturers Bajaj and TVS this month. Honda will be soon seen introducing the Dream Yuga 110 commuter motorcycle in the Indian market and it will be interesting to see if Honda has what it takes to challenge Hero. Honda certainly is serious about its Indian innings and plans to launch a mega branding campaign in many local languages.

  1. If mentality of people (Read: all Indians) are like paising foreigners no wonder Indians would be dependent on even small things like toothbrush or oil on the foreigners. No matter how indifferent we Indians be but Bajaj is our own company and its a matter of shame for us. What Bajaj makes and is going to launch in the future, I am proud of them they are competing with the biggest and most established 2-wheeler company in the world.

Still in domestic sales HMSI is marginally ahead of BAL. But BAL sales in total are still quite ahead of HMSI since BAL exports a good number of bikes. Also HMSI main sellers are activas but BAL is a hardcore-motorcycle-only company so its good that they are still way ahead in motorcycles. I am sure both HMSI & BAL would displace Hero whose sales growth began to decline(from 11% last month to 2.4% this month) for no.1 & no.2 positions. Way to go Bajaj. Hope the new gen bikes turn fortunes for you around the world.

Im rely-rely proud of calling myself a Bajaj Fan. 🙂
