Honda City Adventure Patents - 1

The Honda City Adventure concept off-roader scooter has inched closer to production as the two-wheeler maker has filed patent for this scooter/adventure bike. In fact, a heavily camouflaged test mule of this upcoming off-roader was also spotted in Rome. The latest leaked images give us a glimpse of how the final production model would look like. An earlier report also suggested that the model will go into production in 2017 and will be tagged as ADV – which did not come as a surprise as the concept was tagged with the name “ADV” on the side panel.

The concept was radically designed, though the production version will be heavily watered down owing to production line constraints. In an interview, Honda France’s Fabrice Recoque said that the production spec adventure scooter will be quite different from the show concept. He, however, added that the Honda ADV will be an advanced machine. The equipment may differ from the concept model and the production spec scooter may not include the studded tires and Nissin brake calipers. The ground-clearance too does not look too promising for an off-road ride.

As seen in the patent images, the City Adventure concept will retain its muscular look along with off-road bits such as the wired spoke wheels, upside down forks and even the adjustable windscreen. The scooter is expected to draw power from the same motor that propels the NC750, although is expected to receive a different state of tune for better fuel economy. It may even come equipped with Honda’s DCT semi-auto gearbox.

As suggested by Fabrice Recoque in the interview, this adventure scooter will hit the production line in 2017 thus we expect Honda to announce more details and possibly unveil the production spec model at next year’s EICMA. While we wait for that, you can share your views about the upcoming Honda City Adventure or ADV with us through the comments section below.
