Honda CBR650R India launch (5)

Honda’s eagerly anticipated middleweight sports tourer, the CBR650F will be launched in India on August 4, 2015. Bookings have officially opened; and the token amount is INR 50,000. The CBR650F will be assembled in India with a localization content of 5%.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India had confirmed earlier this year that they will set up a new, premium distribution format in 20 cities to retail the upcoming CBR650F in India, production of which has already commenced.

The fully faired CBR650F is powered by a 649cc liquid-cooled, inline four cylinder engine cradled by a  twin-spar steel frame. Maximum power is rated at 87PS, while maximum torque stands at 62Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks up front and a monoshock with spring-preload adjustability at the rear. Braking comprises 320mm discs with twin-piston callipers up front and a 240mm disc with a single-piston calliper at the back. ABS comes as standard.

The 650F has a kerb weight of 211 kg, and is shod with aluminium wheels wrapped around by 120/70 ZR17 tyres in the front and 180/55 ZR17 tyres at the rear. Instrumentation includes a digital speedometer, a bar tachometer, KM-counter, two trip meters, fuel gauge, and clock.

Honda plans to sell the CBR650F at an estimated ex-showroom price of INR 8 lakh which is slightly higher than expected. The Honda CBR650F will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Benelli TNT600 GT.
