Honda CB Hornet 160R to be launched at the Honda RevFest 2015 (Updated)

Honda CB Hornet 160

Our excitement for the upcoming Honda RevFest 2015 scheduled on August 4, 2015, has been somewhat shrunk with the leaked list of reportedly upcoming products to be launched at the motoring event. The silver lining, however, is the fact that Honda will unveil a sportier version of the Honda CB Unicorn 160 tagged as the CB Hornet 160R.

The new Honda Hornet 160R would be based on the CB Unicorn 160 underpinnings and will also share the same engine, with suspected updates for a sportier ride experience. This strategy of having two products in the same cubic capacity range is not new. The Honda CB Unicorn 150 has enjoyed a very profitable run in the hotly-contested Indian 150cc segment, but this did not stop Honda from introducing a slightly premium CB Trigger.

With the CB Unicorn brand receiving a much-awaited overhaul, it was anybody’s guess that a more premium version, based on the highly successful commuter was about to reach the Indian market to lock horns against the likes of Suzuki Gixxer 155 and the Yamaha FZ. The nomenclature of the new Honda hints towards the sporty nature of the upcoming motorcycle.

The bikini cowl, while retaining its overall shape, now has black plastic cladding around the headlight assembly and a more aggressive wind deflector above it. The front turn indicators have also been moved higher in position than the CB Unicorn 160. The tank gets a beefier look with its updated shrouds whereas the exhaust pipe appears to have gotten sleeker when compared to the CB Unicorn 160.

Honda Revfest LineUp

Honda Product line-up reportedly scheduled at RevFest 2015

The 163cc unit on the CB Unicorn 160 is rated to deliver 14.5 bhp of power and 14.61Nm of torque. Expect to see similar power output number, if not more, on the CB Hornet 160. The CB Hornet 160 is also likely to receive front and rear disc brakes as opposed to the front-only disc setup on the CB Unicorn 160. The CB Hornet 160 will most likely be priced slightly higher than the CB Unicorn 160.

It’s hardly a matter of hours before the Honda RevFest 2015 grooves into action and we will be covering the event LIVE in Delhi and Mumbai, so don’t forget to stay tuned for latest updates on the new launches scheduled at the motoring event.

Update: We have a slightly grainy image of the CB Hornet 160’s side profile just hours away from its launch, and we got to admit, it does look rather good.
