Honda Cars India sells 5,451 cars in Jan 2013

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), Indian subsidiary of Japanese Auto Giant Honda and a leading car manufacturer in India, registered an increase of 205.5% in domestic sales with 5,451 units sold in the month of January 2013 as against 1,784 units sold during the corresponding period of last year.

The company’s cumulative sales stand at 56,929 units during April 2012 to January 2013 as compared to 34,555 units in the corresponding period of last year recording a growth of 65%.

Talking about the exports, the company also exported a total volume of 359 units during January 2013.

Model wise January car sales break-up is as follows:

Honda Brio: 2336
Honda Jazz: 61
Honda City: 2898
Honda Civic:53
Honda Accord: 73
Honda CR-V: 30

Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL), which is close to launching the all new Honda CR-V in Indian market, was established in the month of December in 1995 and the first car to be launched by the manufacturer was the Honda City C segment sedan. The manufacturer entered Indian market in a tip up with the Shiram group and was known as Honda Siel India. Sometime back, the partnership between the two groups came to an end and Honda’s Indian car division was renamed to Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL).

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at Greater Noida, U.P and Tapukara, Rajasthan. The company’s product range includes Honda Brio, Honda Jazz, Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord and Honda CR-V.

The company has a strong sales and distribution network with 141 facilities in 88 cities spread across the country.
