Similar to the excise duty benefits that Govt. of India provides to cars measuring less than 4 metres in length and having petrol/diesel engine size of 1200cc/1500cc, the Indonesia government offers exemption from luxury tax to certain vehicles, as per its Low Cost Green Car regulations. As per these regulations, any car with a 1.2-liter petrol engine and a fuel economy of at least 20 kmpl is entitled to receiving this benefit.

Until now, the Indonesia spec Honda Brio didn’t fall in this category. Don’t be surprised, for this is due to the fact that the Brio is powered by a 1.3 litre petrol engine in Indonesia.

Definitely displeased with this, Honda has now come up with a new engine variant of the Brio for the Indonesian market. The new variant, which has been christened as the Brio Satya, will adhere to the Low Cost Green Car guidelines.

The new Honda Brio Satya is powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine, which enables it to get exempted from luxury tax.

Talking about the new variant, Mr. Jonfis Fandy, marketing director of Honda Prospect Motor, commented- “Satya itself contains the definition of true, real, actual, genuine and sincere. So that means, Satya is faithful. Satya is a word that accompanies loyal customer focus and anywhere he goes, so we called it Satya.”

Honda Brio Satya will make its public debut at the IIMS 2013 and the new variant will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions. Power figures aren’t out yet but we believe that they won’t be dissimilar to those of India spec vehicle.

The Honda Brio Satya will go on sale in five trim levels-

  • Honda Brio Satya DD1 1.2 A MT
  • Honda Brio Satya DD1 1.2 S MT
  • Honda Brio Satya DD1 1.2 E MT
  • Honda Brio DD1 1.2 S AT
  • Honda Brio DD1 1.2 E AT
