That the Honda Brio Amaze is close to being introduced into the fast developing Indian car market is a known fact. The Honda Brio Amaze is looking all set to become the first car in Honda India’s line up to have a diesel engine variant. While much is already known about the upcoming sedan, we now finally have the power figures of the diesel engine that will power the Brio based sedan.

The diesel variants of the Honda Brio Amaze will be powered by a 1.5 Litre i-DTEC EarthDreams turbo diesel engine that has been developed alongside the much publicized 1.6 liter i-DTEC motor from Honda. Unlike the 80PS max power output that was earlier speculated, the 1.5 litre oil burner of the Brio Amaze has a peak power output of 100PS@3,600 rpm. This means that the Brio Amaze will have a definite edge over the high selling Dzire’s 77PS engine. The car also has a power advantage over the Tata Indigo, Chevrolet Sail and Mahindra Logan. The max torque rating of the Brio sedan’s diesel engine is 200 Nm, which is again higher than the Dzire’s 190Nm.

The 1.5 Litre i-DTEC turbo diesel engine is basically a smaller version of the 1.6 Litre i-DTEC motor that can be found powering the Civic and the CR-V in European market. Honda’s 1.5 Litre diesel engine has an all aluminium construction which enables the motor to have a light weight and better cooling.

The petrol variant of the Brio Amaze is powered by the same 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol engine that powers the Brio hatchback. For the Amaze, the engine develops a max power output of 90PS and a peak torque figure of 110 Nm.
