The seven-seater compact crossover was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo that was held at Greater Noida in the month of February. The BR-V garnered a lot of cheer from the audience as the vehicle was one of the first of its kind from the automaker planned for India. For now, the BR-V will likely roll with a diesel powered unit under its hood and a petrol variant might be introduced after a while. The diesel power will be drawn from the 1.5 litre iDTEC engine, borrowed from the Jazz and City. The powerplant will produce a power of around 100PS and a peak torque of 200Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox is expected to come strapped to the engine. The details of the petrol powered unit are not yet known, but we can assume that its cousins will share their engines with the BR-V – might be the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that powers the City and Mobilio.

In the Indian market, the Honda BR-V will lock horns with the recently launched Vitara Brezza, Hyundai’s Creta and the Renault Duster. There are reports that suggest that Honda will remove the Mobilio from its Indian product portfolio to make way for the BR-V. The launch event is just over a week far and the soon the car will be at our perusal, till then stay tuned as we are going to cover the event live.
