The all new Honda Amaze will be launched in Indian tomorrow. The Amaze has a quite a few ‘firsts’ to its credits. The upcoming car will become the smallest sedan to be ever sold by Honda Cars India. The Amaze will also become the first and the only sub-4 metre sedan from the Honda Cars India. Most importantly though, the Honda Amaze will become the first diesel powered car from the Indian subsidiary of the famous automaker.
Powering the diesel variant of the upcoming car is a 1.5 litres 4 cylinder iDTEC EarthDreams engine that is being said to have been developed alongside the much hyped 1.6 litres 4 cylinder EarthDreams engine that powers the European Civic and CRV.
The new 1.5 litres oil burner has a maximum power output of 100PS and boasts of a peak torque of 200Nm. This means that the car is much more powerful than the diesel variant of the Maruti Swift Dzire. This new diesel engine from Honda is an all aluminium unit and is the lightest in its class. This isn’t all as the motor also boasts of a claimed fuel economy figure of 25.8 kmpl! This makes the Amaze not just be the most powerful in its class but also the most fuel efficient in the whole market. The Amaze will come with considerably more equipment than the Brio and will also offer more interior space than the hatchback sibling. This is thanks to a lengthened wheelbase.
It seems like the good times are finally here for Honda Cars India.
