While most of the bike aficionados out there have been closely following the details related to the upcoming KTM RC series and the Bajaj Pulsar SS200, one bike that I feel a tad guilty of ignoring is the Hero HX250R. But as they, its never too late and hence, what we have here today are all the details you need to know about the next BIG thing from Hero MotoCorp. The Hero HX250R launch is scheduled for late 2014 and we’ve now come up with a detailed report to give you a fair idea of what the upcoming model would be all about.
Hero HX250R Engine
The HX250R is slated to become the first Hero MotoCorp product that would be powered by a 250cc fuel injected motor. This 4 stroke single cylinder DOHC, Liquid cooled, engine cranks out a max power of 31 PS, which is considerably more than that of its nearest rival, the Honda CBR250R. Also, this power output will guarantee that the bike won’t lose out to the upcoming KTM RC200 in performance stakes. The engine would come mated to a six speed gearbox, with gear ratios optimized for high performance. If Hero is to be believed, the bike also boasts of optimized intake and exhaust systems that help deliver a healthy power and a good fuel economy. The bike also gets a Closed Crankcase Ventilation System to ensure zero emission from the crankcase.
Hero HX250R Suspension, Brakes and Tires
The Hero HX250R sports telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at front, while the rear of the bike gets a monoshock that has a 5 step adjustable preload and shim valve damping. Braking is courtesy a 300mm disc brake with triple piston caliper. There’s a 220mm linked disc unit at the rear. The bike gets optional ABS. The bike rides on 17×2.75 inch alloy wheel up front that has been shod with a 110/80R – 17 rubber, while the rear gets a 17 x 4.0 inch alloy wheel shod with 140/70R-17 rubber.
Hero HX250R Launch
As we said above, the Hero HX250R launch will happen in late 2014, with the launch date likely to fall in this year’s festive season. It is being said that the HX250R launch would take place alongside that of the Hero Leap scooter, which was unveiled along with the HX250R some months back.
Hero HX250R Price
While the Hero HX250R price will be announced only when the bike steps into our market later this year, it is highly probable that the bike will be priced bang in the Honda CBR250R territory, with the price of the Non-ABS variant starting around the INR 1.60 lakhs mark.
