Here’s the first look at the updated Fisker Karma, coming later this month

Fisker has just released a teaser image showing its updated Karma. The hybrid has been in desperate need for an update since quite some time, but probably due to Fisker changing hands to Chinese company Wanxiang, it has been delayed until now.

While the teaser image showing a top-down view of the updated Fisker Karma doesn’t reveal any new features, it is still exciting to see that Wanxiang has followed through with its promise to relaunch the Karma with minimal changes. That’s fine by us though, as the original karma is still a looker despite the passage of time. Also, we can safely disregard the accompanying tagline, “It’s on. Luxury Energized. Energy Optimized,” as PR-speak.

There’s not much more to go on, but Wanxiang promises that the new karma will be released later this month. With the exit of the chief designer who lent the company his name, Fisker will now be rebranded as Elux, which isn’t too catchy a name in our opinion. It sounds like something you’d call an electric home appliance, but we are sure whoever came up with it probably gave himself or herself a pat on the back for his creativity.

A new report has also recently emerged stating that Wanxiang will not build the new Elux Karma in Finland likely they originally planned to. Additionally, no replacement production site is believed to have been found yet. So where exactly are they planning to produce the Karma next month from remains a mystery for now.

Wanxiang has previously stated that it hopes to introduce a second model to join the Karma in three years, presumably a model utilizing the plug-in hybrid powertrain from the Karma. Wait and watch.
