It has emerged that Ford Motor Company has submitted a trademark request for the “Model E” moniker with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The source of this news says that the trademark was filed on December 3, under the category of Goods and Services.

While this news might invoke several memories of past, there are slim chances that the American auto manufacturer would go back to its classic nomenclature.

It is being said that the the new Model E, if ever Ford comes up with one, won’t ever go into production and chances are that it will be a concept model that would boast of a new age electric powertrain. Worth a mention here is that Tesla’s upcoming entry-level model is rumored to get “Model E” nameplate once it makes its public debut in 2015.
