The new Endeavour (Everest) will see a host of improvements.

The Ford Endeavour has been the biggest car made by the American giant to be sold in India. Ever since its initial launch in 2003, this massive SUV has seen very little change in its mechanical bits. But all that is to change with the introduction of the all-new 2015 Ford Endeavour. Apparently, Ford’s Global Development Team revealed to Philippines’ AutoIndustriya that the new SUV will be revealed to the world on November 14 of this year. Ford has shown its new Endeavour in its concept form to the world at a couple of auto shows across the world; the latest one was the Bangkok Motor Show earlier this year.

The Ford Endeavour (known in America as the Ford Everest) is based on the Ford Ranger series of heavy-duty pickup trucks and thus, has a body-on-frame construction. The 2015 Ford Endeavour will also be based on the Ranger pickup, but will feature vast improvements over its predecessor. And if certain reports are to be believed, this Endeavour will no longer sport an archaic leaf-spring suspension at the back, but a more modern coil-spring setup. This will have a direct bearing on the car’s ride quality and handling. Also, the reports say that for the international market, Ford might offer up two engine choices; a 2.2-litre four-pot diesel and a slightly larger 3.2-litre 5-cylinder inline diesel motor. But we suspect the Indian versions to stick with the same 2.5- and 3.0-litre diesel engines as we have on the outgoing versions.

New Ford Endeavour Interiors
The interiors of the 2015 Endeavour promises to be a better place to sit in.

Ford might also upgrade the current 5-speed transmission to a 6-speed, one. If that sees the light of day, you can expect better fuel economy from this leviathan. The interior of the 2015 Endeavour, will be heavily inspired by the F-150 pickup truck. This means you can see some real niceties when you will step inside the cabin of this SUV. We expect to see Ford fitting this Endeavour with their new SYNC2 multimedia system, backed by an 8-inch touchscreen. If all goes well, you can very well see this car being launched in India somewhere in 2015. The 2015 Ford Endeavour, just like the outgoing model, will be shipped over from Thailand as CKD kits and then assembled at Ford’s plant in Chennai. We think this new Ford could give Toyota’s Fortuner a good run for its money. But that’s to be seen when Ford brings us this new Endeavour.
