We reported in considerable detail when Ford India launched a unique marketing campaign for the highly awaited Ford EcoSport compact SUV that is inching closer to its India launch with every passing day.

Ford India has now launched the TVC for the EcoSportDiscoveries contest. The new TVC is being aired on all popular TV channels and is aimed at garnering a huge response for the EcoSportDiscoveries contest.

It is being said that the upcoming Ford EcoSport will be launched with a very aggressive price tag. The popular compact SUV from Ford measures less than four meter in length and all the engine variants of the EcoSport have engine capacity of under 1.5 liters. This means that the crossover qualifies to be classified as a small car in India and will benefit from the reduced excise duty. This also means that the EcoSport won’t suffer from the recently increased excise duty for the SUVs. The excise duty on the EcoSport will be 12%, which is basically the same percentage as on the Ford Figo hatchback.

The India spec Ford EcoSport will come in three engine variants- 1.5 litre normally aspirated petrol, 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel and the 1.0 litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine that has been making a lot of news ever since its debut.

The entry level EcoSport is being expected to cost less than INR 6 lakhs and this might see make the Renault Duster and some hatchbacks face some heat. Other vehicles that might see reduced sales due to the EcoSport are the Mahindra Quanto and the Premier Rio.
