The Ford EcoSport has been launched in Chinese car market. The China spec Ford EcoSport gets two engine variants- a 1.5 Litre Ti-VCT naturally aspirated petrol engine and the much publicized 1 Litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine. Both the petrol motors are mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The 1.5 Litre NA petrol motor also gets an optional 6 speed PowerShift dual clutch automatic gearbox. It may be noted that this is the same transmission that is being offered with the Fiesta sedan in India.
The Ford EcoSport Compact SUV goes on sale in China for a starting price of 94,800 Chinese Yuan (approx INR 8.3 lakhs). The entry level variant of the EcoSport is powered by the 1.5 Litre petrol engine mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The base model comes equipped with ABS, EBD and dual airbags. The China spec EcoSport gets no four wheel drive option.
The China spec Ford EcoSport SUV has a slightly longer wheelbase than the India spec model. The wheelbase of the EcoSport for Chinese market measures 2,521 mm in length.
The Ford EcoSport Compact SUV for Indian market will come equipped with a range of features such as aircon, power steering, power windows, central locking, 60:40 split seats to a tasty set of alloy wheels, decent In-Car Entertainment system with CD/MP3/AUX compatibility, rear parking sensors, driver’s airbag, front passenger airbag and curtain airbags, ABS and EBD, SYNC, Keyless entry system and Push-button start system. The India spec EcoSport comes with 200mm of ground clearance and has a 550mm water wading ability. The Ford EcoSport will be launched in India with three engine options. These include- 1.0 litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine, 1.5 litre Turbocharged diesel engine and 1.5 litre Normally Aspirated petrol engine. All the three motors will be mated to a five speed manual gearbox, with the petrol engines getting an optional automatic transmission.

My obsession for ecosport is now fading out due to un-necessary delay in its launch, can be true with others as well!
