It is a well known fact that the Ford EcoSport has managed to garner plenty of rave reviews from auto hacks and car buyers alike. The EcoSport has been launched at a price that undercuts that of some of the premium hatchbacks and entry level sedans and all this has helped the compact crossover with coming across as an even more attractive option for the car buyers.
While the bookings for the diesel and EcoBoost petrol variant have been suspended by the carmaker, the EcoSport still manages to be among the most desired cars out there. What else explains it garnering over 40000 bookings in a little more than 2 months since it has been on sale in India? Even the 1.5 litres petrol variant, the bookings for which are still taking place, commands a waiting period of as much as a year in some cities!
The Ford EcoSport is on sale in as many as three engine variants-
- The entry level engine variant of EcoSport is powered by the same 1.5 litre normally aspirated petrol motor that powers the new Fiesta sedan. The 1.5 litres petrol engine can be ordered with either a 5 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed auto’ transmission.
- The diesel engine variant, and the one which is responsible for bringing all those sales volumes, is powered by the Fiesta’s 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine.
- The second petrol engine variant is powered by the much hyped Ford EcoBoost 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine. No auto box for the EcoBoost.
