We reported in detail when it emerged that Fiat India is close to re-launching the Linea T Jet in the fast developing Indian car market. It may be noted that the Fiat Linea 1.4 TJet, which once used to be the performance variant of the Linea upper C segment sedan, was taken off the shelves owing to poor demand.
The Fiat Linea was earlier being expected to re-enter our market in early May. However, various issues at the manufacturer’s end resulted into a delay in launch. It is now being said that the car is hardly a few days away from its launch and will be re-introduced on June 10.
The Fiat Linea T-jet is looking all set to again become the least priced turbocharged petrol sedan in the country. Powering the Fiat Linea T-Jet is a 1.4 litres, 4 cylinder, direct injection, turbocharged T-Jet petrol engine that has a max power output of 114PS @ 5000 rpm and has a peak torque figure of 207Nm @ 2200 rpm. The Linea comes with bigger 16-inch wheels that wear wider 205/55 spec tyres. The T-Jet has disc brakes on all four wheels.
In its second innings, the Linea T-Jet will come with increased ground clearance. The Dynamic variant will come with an increased ground clearance of 185 mm (vs 170mm earlier). The Linea T-Jet Emotion gets a ground clearance of 190 mm. This makes the Emotion variant the car with the highest ground clearance in its class. It remains to be seen if the increase in ground clearance would badly affect the car’s handling.
