Fiat Abarth Punto and Avventura production suspended to make way for JEEP C-SUV

According to report by RushLane, Fiat India has reportedly suspensded the production of their Abarth Punto and Avventura by Abarth models. The company’s Ranjangaon Factory will skip the manufacturing of the mentioned hot hatch and crossover vehicle for a while, in order to set the production of the Jeep C-SUV in motion.

In addition to a Fiat’s manufacturing plant in Brazil, the one in India will be one of the chief facilities producing the Jeep C-SUV. The automaker has supposedly planned a significant investment to pump up their plant and has also carried out the expansion work. With the beefed up facility the automaker has geared up to get the Jeep SUV soon; by soon we mean that the new vehicle will be out by the end of 2017 or the start of 2018.

As for now, the details of the Jeep C-SUV are not yet known. On the visual front, it shares design cues with the Grand Cherokee and is said to be based on the Fiat 500X. The C-SUV might roll out with petrol and diesel engine configuration. The 2.0-liter Tigershark petrol powerplant will produce 164 hp of power while the and 2.0-liter MultiJet II diesel will do 170hp. Both the configuration will be available with 6-speed manual transmission and a 9-speed automatic transmission will be available on the top-end trims.
