The Fiat 500 brand of cars needs no introduction! These retro-styled models have been considerably successful in most markets they are sold in. True, the 500 has not been setting sales charts on fire here in India but that has more to do with the niche segment positioning than anything else. However, if these spy images are anything to go by, the sales performance of 500 brand in India might soon get a shot in its arm! Yes, Fiat India has been spotted testing the 500L here in India!

The Fiat 500L, which is a longer version of the 500 and is based on the Punto platform, was spotted in Pune, which translates into a possibility of Fiat India considering this vehicle for an innings in India. In most markets abroad, the Fiat 500L is powered by a 1.4 litre, 160 Bhp turbocharged petrol motor that features the much publicized MultiAir variable valve technology. The engine is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. Fiat also offers the option of a 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission. In India though, this BMW-Mini rival could also get the 1.3 litre four cylinder turbocharged multijet engine from the 500 hatchback. It is expected that Fiat might be planning to bring the 500L to us via CKD route, which should translate into a pricing of around INR 20-25 lakhs, depending on the trim level and engine variant.
The Fiat 500L benefits from a long list of safety features, which includes-

- ESC with Hill Hold
- ASR anti slip feature for ESC
- ABS with EBD and DST (Driving Steering Torque)
- ERM (Electronic Rollover Mitigation).
