Our Chennai based colleague Joy Sharma has clicked the freshest yet pictures of the UK spec Fiesta in Chennai. The car has been doing the rounds on Chennai streets. Several spy pictures of the new Fiesta have been doing the rounds in the blogosphere, and speculations on the car coming to India have been ride since times immemorial. There isn’t any official word from Ford about the car though, and the company had kept mum over whether the car can come to India.
The Fiesta is a premium hatch, and experience of other companies (Read Honda) shows that the market for such expensive hatches in India isn’t very strong. So even after having spotted the car many times, we cannot be sure about its launch in India. Ford has maintained that certain test mules are meant only to carry out power train testing. We believe that if ever Ford India decides to launch the Fiesta, they will come out with the sedan version first. The current Fiesta has been around for five years now. We expect the new car as a replacement – however, as commonly seen in the Indian market, companies don’t mind selling the replacement model alongside the existing model with a new name.
The UK spec Fiesta is a highly acclaimed car with class leading dynamics and features. It’s considered to be a fabulous car in its segment as a fun to drive car with great features, practical engine, great ride and a sophisticated feel.
