Ducati has stunned the EICMA by unveiling seven wonders of the Ducati world. Ducati has finally invaded the cruiser world, and by invaded we really mean i-n-v-a-d-e-d! With the unveiling of the new expanded Diavel line up, Ducati has geared the cruiser game to another level.

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali pulled the curtains off the new XDiavel ahead of the 2015 EICMA Show in Milan. The Xdiavel is the first cruiser from Ducati to use belt-type final transmission. As said the XDiavel is a fusion of two worlds: the Cruiser world – low speeds, relaxed riding, long journeys and feet forward ergonomics and the Ducati world, characterized by Italian style, refined engineering and unparalleled performance.

2016 Ducati XDiavel (20)

For the XDiavel, Ducati wants buyers to focus on three numbers: ‘5000’, ’60’ and ’40’. 5000 rpm from a new engine, 60 – the number of different ergonomic configurations available, and 40 – the maximum attainable lean angle.

A 1262cc Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing), L-Twin liquid cooled engine powers this beast. It is capable of spouting an output of 156 bhp. The engine has been tuned for massive low-rpm torque, the figure now sitting at a claimed 128 Nm at 5000 rpm. The XDiavel looks neat as the engine now sports no visible oil or water hoses, as they are completely encased within the motor. The bike also gets the launch control feature called the DPL or ‘Ducati Power Launch’ to put down all the power on when needed.

Ducati says the new 1262cc engine makes more power throughout the rev range and has flat torque from 5000 RPM to 10,000 RPM while providing good low-end torque.

The introduction of the belt-type transmission on the XDiavel is a hint at how much the company is angling this machine to the cruiser rider. The ergonomics are adjustable up to 60 different positions, and standard fitment also includes an extended seat and passenger backrest. The XDiavel provides vast scope for personalization with 4 different footrest positions, 5 different seats and three different handlebars.

The Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), together with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), riding modes, Bosch cornering ABS, cruise control and the Ducati Power Launch (DPL) system, make the XDiavel technologically insane in offering high performance and safety.

The 2016 Ducati XDiavel is a much more aggressive design than previous Diavel. It looks like the Undertaker of the cruiser world. We are impressed with its redesign and power tech. it about time to have this beast proving its power against the cruisers out on the roads. Stay tuned for details on the Ducati XDiavel and for more action at the EICMA!
