Official word is finally out that Mahindra owned Korean UV maker Ssangyong will take the wraps off the XLV (eXciting smart Lifestyle Vehicle) concept at the fast approaching Geneva Motor Show 2014, which commences on March 4! The XLV concept will spwan a Ford EcoSport rival in near future.

Ssanyong has informed us that the XLV concept is as much as 290 mm longer than the XIV-1 concept and the upcoming concept model measures 4,430 mm in length, 1,845 mm in width, 1,600 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The XLV has a seven seat (2+2+2+1) layout. However, Ssangyong has also planned to come up with a five seater variant that will lock horns with the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Nissan Juke and the likes.

The upcoming Ssangyong XLV is underpinned a new platform, whose development has seen many inputs from Mahindra and Mahindra.  Powering the XLV will be a diesel hybrid engine setup that will consist of a conventional 1.6-liter oil burner and an electric motor that will get its juice from a lithium ion battery.

Quite obviously, the Ssangyong XLV production spec model will be headed to India in its five seater avatar and will be seen rivalling the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the likes.
