De-spec’ed Skoda Superb by next month

Indian unit of Popular Czech auto manufacturer Skoda,  is busy working on a de-spec’ed Superb to make it more accessible to the masses. And of course more accessible.  At present the Superb is available in three engine options -1.8 TSi (Petrol), 2.0 TDi diesel and a 3.2 V6 Petrol.

The company is working to launch a new trim level “Elegance” of the Superb luxury sedan. The ‘economy’ variant is rumored to come in with the tried and tested 1.8 TSi motor and will be priced around Rs.17 Lakhs, i.e. a whopping 1.5 Lakhs cheaper than the existing base variant. Skoda will be doing away with some of the less important goodies to bring the selling price down.

The current entry-level variant boasts of dual-climate control and 6-airbags, and we feel that Skoda may reduce the number of airbags and offer a basic air con to keep the price in check.

The Skoda Superb is known for the spaciousness it offers and it has been one of its major selling points and it is likely to remain so even with the upcoming stripped down version. We are eagerly looking forward to the new version of the car. Luxury is all set to become affordable and now don’t say you still can’t buy one!
