The first desi sportscar- DC Avanti is ready to roll on the Indian streets. Reports say that the car will be launched in early 2015 and can be in your garage after making you poorer by INR 35 lakh approx.
As already known, powering the Avanti is a mid-mounted 2.0-litre four pot turbocharged mill which churns out 248bhp and 24.6kgm of twisting force. The engine comes mated to a six speed manual tyranny. The car rides on 20-inch wheels shod with 255/35 tyres on the front, and 295/30 tyres on the rear. The car is equipped with 330mm ventilated four-pot disc brakes at the front and 295mm at the rear. ABs is offered as a standard fitment wand has been developed by Continental. Suspension duties are taken car of by a double wishbone on all four wheels and monotube with gas-charged shock absorbers. Coil springs perform the dampening duties on the car.
The Avanti measures 4550mm in length, 1965mm in width and 1200mm in height. DC has kept the ground clearance at 170mm which will save its underbelly from those large speedbumps. The chassis is a box section space frame, which has been overbuilt to help handle it better on Indian roads. The body of the car has been constructed using carbon-fibre for many parts.
On the inside, the Avanti gets a three-spoke steering wheel, a centre console with stacked screens, chrome surrounds and body colored separators. It also gets a touchscreen infotainment system and soft touch buttons for the air-conditioning system.
